Jane Pittard is an Australian based watercolour artist. Inspired by the ocean and her love of horses.

Jane lived in Suburban Melbourne as a child but spent all her childhood holidays on the Coast or on a friend’s farm north of Melbourne, at Wollert. Happy times were spent amongst animals, riding horses and swimming in the surf. These times included wonderful days on Phillip Island riding her pony along the beaches and swimming him in the surf. She was always drawing and subsequently studied Art in Matriculation and went n to study Interior Design at RMIT. This course incorporated the History of Art and Architectural Rendering and included the subjects of Life drawing and basics of oil painting through the School of Art at RMIT.

A family and years later Jane’s interest in drawing and painting continued, turning her energies to firstly oil painting but more recently to water colour, as a more practical means of painting while travelling. Her love of Europe, Italy in particular, originated during her days at RMIT when a group of students were introduced to the delights of European Art and Architecture by their lecturer Joe Bradley.

Jane divides her time between rural Victoria and the Surf Coast. Her love of rural life and horses is evident in the Sepia series, while living on the Surf Coast is reflected in the sea and landscapes.
